Cultivating a Human Resources Department for Tech-Savvy Millennials

Cultivating a Human Resources Department for Tech-Savvy Millennials

Every human resources  department is pulling its hair out trying to cultivate the right workplace for the newest crop of tech savvy millennials. These are the employees who will set your company ahead of the curve through applying new technology. However, these new employees definitely do not respond to traditional HR tactics or an old-school work environment.

Cultivating a Results-Oriented Workplace

Millennials have little use for seniority in a workspace. If older employees refuse to update their efficiency using newer technologies, millennials will revolt. Human resources must create a clear message: Performance gets rewarded above all, and there is plenty of room for inventive employees to make extra money.

Creating an Authentic Workspace

Millennials are more concerned with a company’s authenticity than any previous generation of workers. Authenticity gets verified through sites like Glassdoor, so if you are lying about your company culture, this generation will find out and boycott you. Human resources should communicate how the company is interacting with and giving back to the community that houses it.

Cultivating New Tech

There is no use for a millennial to learn all of the new ways to increase efficiency if you set your company procedures in stone. Millennials, as a rule, will avoid this kind of company. Human resources must help the company cultivate the reputation for new innovations. Let your new employees use their training!

Leaving the Useless Stuff Alone

Staying in line with a completely results-oriented culture means putting less pressure on employees to dress a certain way or keep rigid office hours. Companies such as Google, Apple and Facebook continue to increase efficiency party because of the autonomy they give employees in these areas.
